Wondering about The Alaska Marine Highway System and hanging possibilities?

The bride and I are calculating an inside passage trip with The Alaska Marine Highway System ferry. I read that many camp on deck and wondered if any outside the box thinking folk here had ever done so with hammocks? Like improvised hang points etc? Also any info on general travel tips with drive to hanging opportunities would be appreciated.

You can always sleep on the floor in the observation lounge if the hammock doesn't work out!

Worked fine for us a few years ago in the days before hammocks etc.

There are hard points on the ferry, but I'm guessing you'll find it tough on the ferry. Book a cabin or bring an air mattress. But off...? Possibilities unlimited! Go north, young man, a flot, and south, on the 'bikes, ne'er a problem. You'll just have to decide how many adventures and view you can manage.

    Sleep on the floor? Blasphemy.

We will be in the cage so maybe some type of portable stands to augment hard points. I don't do tents or floors anymore and Mrs Law Dawg (ret) would probably lobby for a room over a mat.

As to a bike I was considering a solo ferry trip up and leisurely ride back to the lower 40...knees/feet/back permitting. Haven't seen any RRs of anyone hammock riding that one have you?
