Hammock Calculator Thunderbird vs Dangerbird Question

I am a little surprised the hammock calculator on the Dream Hammock website lists the Thunderbird as heavier than the Dangerbird.

I would think since the Thunderbird has a removeable top while the Dangerbird keeps both tops, that the thunderbird would be lighter?

I know it has a disclaimer that it is for planning purposes only.

Am I thinking correctly that the Thunderbird should be lighter?

The ThunderBird is approx 1.1oz heavier than an equivalent DangerBird (give or take), but the weights on both hammocks are measured with everything in the stuff sack, ready to hang.
The ThunderBird (net & peak bag) or (overcover & peak bag) weigh approx 5.3 to 5.5oz each (on the 11ft model).
Basically the ThunderBird has 10.5 - 11 oz of removeable covers included in the stuff sack weight.
The weight savings is not realized until you remove either the net or overcover and leave it at home. Then you save something like 4.4oz for each one.

Of course, all these weights mentioned above change depend on exact sizes and materials used, so it's difficult to compare apples to apples. Hope that makes sense.

The difference could be the disconnect tie outs.. Other than that, I think they are the same hammock. The advantage to the Tbird is that you can completely remove the top cover, net or both to make it lighter.

Sorry PS, I did not see your post when I was writing a replay.

Yes, that's extra on the ThunderBird and each pack hook weighs 1.4 grams x 8 = 11.2 or .4oz. The shock cord is a little heavier too, but I don't remember how much.
The biggest difference is probably the #5 separating zipper over the #3 non-separating on the DangerBird

I found the estimates to be very close to what my TB weighs. the weight the calculator estimates is within about an oz of my actual weight, which includes bishop bag, included tree straps, toggles and RL organizer.
