    Hello from Dallas, TX

I've been an avid tent/car/popup camper most of my life and was recently introduced to hammocking by fellow Scout Leaders. Been lurking the site for a month or so and took the plunge last week ordering a WBBB D1.1, Edge tarp & couple other goodies. I'll spend some time getting accustomed to the BB while gearing up for 3 long weekends of hanging in Sept/Oct. I'm looking forward to doing some ultralight overnighters and group hangs in the future.

I appreciate all the input and knowledge that is passed on from forum members, both old and new. It has been helpful to obtain info and watch reviews/explanations of the particulars of hammock hanging. I hope to offer some of my own in time ...

Welcome. You got some nice gear. Look at whoopies and all things Dutch.

Thanks guys. I wish I could make the butt bake hang but I'm already committed that weekend. I'll keep checking the group hang section but do you know if there are any annual group hangs in the fall?

I've looked at the Dutch clips and plan to order a pair soon.

    Welcome from Fort Worth.

We have an annual hang at Fairfield SP in November. It's a fairly big deal. We average about 60+ hangers from all over. You can see all kinds of setups, and for me it was really helpful to see it in person when I first got into this.
Super friendly people, good eats (Potluck style) and some giveaways. It's also a great place to buy, sell, and trade.

We have a growing core group of hangers from the DFW area who get out quite often, as you said you would do, check the hangouts, campouts, and trip planning section for the Southwest.

Howdy and welcome to the trees!

Heed the words of gospidey and watch for hangs in your area, they are a great way to meet folks, see a wide range of gear and smooth out the learning curve.

In fact save the date for the second weekend in November (11/8-10), for the hang he mentioned and watch for the planning thread that I will start sometime after the Butt Bake, (most likely the planning will get started in early August).

Welcome from Magnolia. I hope to meet you and other TX members at a future hang, possibly the November gathering. There seem to be lots of fun and friendly folks from down this way. The information on this forum is extremely helpful! I've been a member a while, but recently resumed gearing up and getting out.

A big welcome from beautiful Carrollton. As you've discovered, this is a great place -- lots of knowledge, very helpful ... Of course, with knowledge you'll discover all sorts of cool things you've just gotta have.

But looks like you've made some great choices so far.

    best,
    Mike
