I want a trap I can see the stars through.
Anyone here have something like that?

Cuben fiber?
Truly clear is hard to come by.
Polycro is clear, but fragile. Polycro is the heat shrink window film. But some folks have made tarps.
Vinyl is clear but heavy.
Cuben is translucent. But not totally clear.
I've got one that is clear....ish.
That's my model Genuine Draft under the tarp. It is mylar (ordered from a kite-builder site) and the seam and edging is taped instead of sewn. It's really just a novelty tarp, but it does work just fine. It is heavy for the coverage and compresses about as much as sand, but it is a fun tarp.
Can't really see the stars clearly through it; they look more like fuzzy little pieces of lint with bioluminescent abilities. Also, it doesn't only look like a greenhouse. It functions like one too! This is not a tarp to use if planning to sleep-in on a sunny morning. I've tried.
Trust nobody!
I like it, I am rather tired of the dark tones. I am making a light colored tarp, I like yours better.
I am willing to make something.
Cannibal mentioned greenhouse effect and I will consider this and perhaps I should make one with a large window.
Hmmmm.....
Now I'm thinking.
Yes, the greenhouse effect could be quite stifling, even in partial sunshine. Several folks have commented that the CF tarps are insufficient as shade tarps and I have to agree. I have a light grey CF tarp and it can get plenty warm under there when the sun is shining.
The road to success is always under construction.

I'm very new to all this but I have a clear tarp I made from a cheap painter's tarp. It works great in the rain but like others have said, not good in sunlight.
This is on my very long list of things to:
