    What shape is you fav?

Ive always been happy with my rectangle tarp for everything , just pitched at different angles for weather but have seen some wicked diamond set ups and am now leaning toward making a all weather use hexagonal tarp when my material arrives next week.

what are other members favs shapes?

    cheers

I have a hex "winter" tarp and a hex cat cut for my wife's hammock. She don't camp if the temps are below high 40's. I like the hex shape but I don't have a whole lot of experience with other shapes.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

For summer use, vertical rain protection only, I do like the MacCat type tarp, & if ever I get a few extra $$$ Brian will have even more sewing to do for me.

But for all round use, if I only could have one, I would pick my Rectangular sil nylon tarp by OES every time. Mine seems at first glance to be a bit large. OK, HUGE actually! It is after all 13.5' X 10' but I am OK with that.

    My $0.02, but you asked.

I'm also kinda partial to the hex style tarps.

Definitely HEX for me. Great coverage and with the cat edges it just loves the wind.

I had a Macat DLX and soon I'll have a Spinntex Macat DLX. I'm thinking it may be the only tarp I'll need. I bought a Speer Winter Tarp but haven't had a chance to use it and likely won't this year since it is already warming up. Some have opined here at HF that a hex tarp and a hammock sock are all you need, even in winter, I'm not totally sold on the idea but I think they may be right.

Another hex fan. Why? It is an efficient shape for covering a hammock used assymetrically (diagonally and flat) regardless of which way you are oriented. It also gives better end coverage in a shorter tarp than the old HH type diamond. A hex can be as narrow as 5 feet and still give perfectly adequate coverage for both the hammock and such ground activities as cooking and packing up. Length, of course, depends on what particular hammock it is used with. I use a 9'4" X 5' hex with 4'6" sides.
