    HH Chair/Lounger Comfort

I was having trouble getting a comfortable chair/lounger with my HH Explorer. The ridge line and net pressing into my neck.

So why not drop the ridge line down with a quick disconnect/connect system.

Here's the foot end of the HH . Note the end connection to the ridge line forms a nice loop.

So let's cut the ridge line off!!

Now take a left over small bungee and loop through the end loop connection.
Tie a bight in the main cord you just cut off. Slip it over the bugee ball. Walla

And here's the bungee in operation

No problems with a chair or lounger and you also can top load for sleeping if you don't need the bug net.

There was a similar thread on this, but it seemed to now be hiding from me?

    Aloha

ya know I was trying to think of a solution to this problem in my WBBB.

Lounging and having a ridge line in my forehead just isn't that nice xP

This is something to think about, certainly. Thanks for sharing.

Well, the downside of that is you no longer have a reliable structural ridgeline, an integral part of the Hennessy system that was not there just to hold up the bugnet. That bungee is not going to insure a consistent sag, and you may rip your bugnet due to now inadequately controlled horizontal forces.

I'd find some other way to detach the ridgeline, like a Dutch Ridgeline biner.

I made a detachable ridgeline for my WBBB using 7/64 amsteel. Basically the connection point is based on the soft shackle and is even strong enough to hang on. You could also make two sections with fixed loops and connect them with a Dutch Biner.

Would having an adjustable structural ridge line not work with this method? I don't see why not, but thought id ask in case I am overlooking something.

For sure it would. You could have a short "dogbone" (which is a length of amsteel or other line with a fixed eye on each end) on one end of the hammock and an adjustable SRL on the other. Simply connect the fixed eye of the dogbone to the adjustable loop of the adjustable structural ridgeline with a Dutch biner or Dutch ridgeline biner. Actually, this is how to have an adjustable SRL on a WBBB since the SRL goes through the whipping making it very hard to actually adjust an adjustable SRL. Just be aware that the WBBB is made with an 100 inch RL so lengthening it will stretch the bugnet and possibly cause damage when loaded. Shortening the RL is not as critical.

That was the point I was trying to make about the Hennessy, but you said it better!

The bungee in the system will stretch and let him rip the net. It is no longer structurally strong.

One could use an eye and toggle as long as they made the toggle from something strong enough.

The other problem is that if one is going to do that to any hammock measure the distance between the attachment points and duplicate the end result or risk changing the lie of the hammock along with the bug net issue. That will require adding line to make up for what is consumed making the knots. The knots in turn may weaken the line depending on how the system was otherwise constructed.
    YMMV
