Question about eno and slap strap pro

I have the eno double and use slap strap pro... I'm finding it difficult to figure out how to hang it to avoid sinking... sometimes I have to hang it at my shoulder height (I'm 5-4) and I sink down to six inches from the ground... I had this issue with the regular slap strap but not as severe... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... I've been camping with it probably a hundred times... I pick good trees... far enough apart but not too far... I get my straps right

my friend who goes with us is always able to set his up first try no sinking... but I always have to adjust it five or six times... I could hang my hammock on the exact same trees he does and my hammock will sink and his doesn't...

I could go back to the regular slap strap... but I want to know how to avoid sinking... I hammock to stay OFF the ground!

It's the nylon straps; they stretch during use. Most people around here use polyester or polypropylene. For my Eno DN I use the polypro straps from NRS. I have used them for years rafting and feel confident in their lack of stretch (even when wet) and durability. I got 2 of the 9 ft loop straps and just leave the section with the cam buckle at home. Long enough to go around most of the trees I use 2 or 3 times. http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product.a...4&pdeptid=1188
Just wish I could have gotten the straps in red
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.

I'd agree with gnar. The Slap Straps have a lot of negative feedback. There are better options.

If you happened to buy them at REI, return them and get the atlas straps. They are polypro.

Yep, dump the slap straps and go with poly straps. ENO Atlas straps are poly and won't stretch. Dutch sells poly straps or if you are on a tight budget, Harbor Freight has poly straps that you can sew loops into the ends.

I have the WB adjustable webbing I swapped on my ENO DB and love them. But, I have two freinds who have atlas straps and I wouldn't mind having them either...

I have been considering switching to the atlas straps...

I am not really sure how it would work to get a random strap to attach the eno to it... like knots or something?? I like the loop attachments on the straps because it makes it easy for me...

I didn't order from REI... I've gotten some from amazon... some from eno themselves...

Straps are used in conjunction with cinch buckles of some kind allowing for very fine and easy length adjustments. Dutchware sells a good one. You can also use two descender rings as well.

Had then didn't like them. I now use tree straps and whoopie slings. Now I have no sinking.
