made a couple out of Dynaglide tonight, think the look cool as heck. thought i recall a yt vid of shugs where some1 used them?? pls. let me know I want to hear all input + - dont mind

Go for it. Personally I find it it interesting to see what lengths people will go to in order to avoid tying some simple knots. ;-)

If memory serves I think the only problem you get that if you get them tightened down good there is no slack to release the constrictor. I could be wrong and often am but I think I remember a discussion on this once earlier.

You've discovered an application for whoopie slings that does not work very well. Whoopie slings under tension are hard to adjust and don't work worth a crap. You need three hands to adjust the bury (or use your teeth). Prusiks or just a simple marlin spike hitch work much better.

You're not the first to try it - my own personal experience says it's not gonna be a success story. I thought whoopies on my tarp ridgeline would be a great idea, but boy was I wrong.

^+1 for ALL the above mentioned reasons. They're a major PITA to adjust. Knots really aren't that scary

Prusiks, adjustable grip hitch, or simply wrapping the line over itself at the stake are much better alternatives. Splicing can be VERY addictive, but there are better applications for it.

All I got to say is: prusik knots at the tarp attachment points work like a charm.

I hear ya, but and this is a big but do you think it would work good my way of doing it?? So most of the time I will take my guy out and stake in hand then stick in ground while on the guy. it works sweet with my factory HH hex, but i just have a bunch of random tied knots on the guy and it bugs me so I figured it might work good 4 me? and 4 some reason the little tarp sag i get over night has never bothered me so its not as much 4 quick adjustment as it is 4 simple and clean.... on and on and on........

I never did try them on video that I recall.
But they would be real hard to loosen as guy-outs for sure.

Marlinspike hitch the stake to the guy line then place the stake as you're used to doing? Really no benefit, other than the coolness factor, to doing it differently IMHO

I like that! maybe I will leave 1 how I got it, do 1 in the woopie, 1 as you said, and 1 with a dutch??? some dutch has to be in there right, oh wait the line 4 woopies is from dutch and its green so it almost "blings"
