    Long term durability

Doing a 6 month motorcycle ride starting next spring. Just starting to look at hanging as alternative to tent. What issues to plan for as far as durability of gear? Will be pulling a small cargo trailer so lightest weight is not a concern. Starting out with a Clark Flex-180 for the extra room.

All the gear I see on here if taken care of will be fine for you. The usual precautions apply. I wouldn't let my tarp or hammock contact the ground to protect from accidental contact with anything sharp. Tarp sleeves/snake skins are a great way to store and depoly your tarp.

Always check for dead branches above where you want to hang. Even if they aren't widow maker size, there is still potential for a branch to rip your tarp.

When getting in a hammock make sure you have nothing sharp sticking out of a pocket or hanging from a belt.
Don't let life get in the way of living.

Your motorcycle will be of greater concern than your gear when it comes to durability.

This is more of a long term concern, but it's always a good idea not to leave your nylon hammock or tarp exposed to the harmful and destructive rays of the sun for too long.

I've been using my hammock gear for motorcycle camping for the last year and have not had an issue at all. Use the same care as you do with your motorcycle and you'll be a happy camper for years.....................
