I was going to do the prancersise trot on the walk to pick the boys up at the bus stop. But then I saw the prancersise gallop. That's the walk of all walks right there. I hope no one throws a brick at me.

Personally I say I go backpacking or canoeing. A hammock is just different equipment. It's all gear to me. People that don't use tents don't say they are tarp and pad camping.

We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all.

"Correct terminology"? On this (or any) forum? When you use words like these correctly, as you did, you brand yourself that worst of oxymorons, an old fart newbie. Be afraid! (Actually, don't give it another thought. Nobody gives a hang what you say as long as they think they understood it.)

Personally, I resist using "hammock" as a verb ("hammocking"). On the other hand, even my wife (not a hammocker ) blithely tells friends that I've "gone to a hang", and she learned to talk that way from me.

More interesting (and more insidious) is the way emoticons have slid into my vocabulary.

Just hang in there. You'll get used to the sound of any expressions you find useful. (That's here on the forum. Out there in the world it doesn't matter. If you manage to convey what you mean, you'll get a look of incredulity. If you try to elaborate, their eyes will glaze over ....)

I wish I could unsee that, but I can't. I expected the wig to come flying off at any moment.

Prancing might be a highly effective way to navigate high-crime neighborhoods. I imagine even the muggers would leave you alone.
