So I have been doing a lot of research on hammocks in general (with the help of this site) and I had read somewhere about spreader bar style and rope style hammocks being evil and some sort of manufacturer's prank (wish I could find that article) and I was wondering...
The traditional hammock that is sold at every store in America is a fabric or rope hammock with spreader bars. I have past experience with these hammocks as I have a friend or two that have them in there backyards (most of them have been abandoned as there are not very comfortable or stable especially the rope ones). SOOOooo what's the deal, if a gathered end hammock is so much more comfortable and stable why are the ones with spreader bars so popular? Why aren't gathered end hammocks sold almost everywhere? Is it because this fad of spreader bar and rope hammocks has ruined the hammocks reputation or are you HF guys just keeping it a secret?
