+ 1 on the 1.1 Double over a 1.7 single for all of the above reasons, AND the double layer allows for a pad or other simple insulation to be placed under you until you solve that piece of the puzzle.

Thanks for the clarification. All the more reason to go with the 1.1, due to weight and comfort.

I own and use a 1.1 and 1.7; both are doubles. I am 6ft 2" and 280 lbs. I find the 1.1 has more streach than the 1.7 for someone my size and weight. I find for me the 1.7 is more comfortable but if I am looking to save weight backpacking then I will take the 1.1 double.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I have had both and I think the 1.1 double is much more comfortable..
With your weight though you might want to look into the 1.7 single or 1.9 camouflage single.

The 1.1 feels like silk and is plenty tough the 1.7 isn't rough but defiantly rougher..
I could compare it to the difference in very nice soft sheets and cheap sheets.

ah... that makes sense.. Let me say that as a newbe my self it is my humble opinion that a good under quilt is as important as the hammock as far a comfort. I was honestly shocked at how much the comfort level went up. Look into making a poncho liner quilt or converting an old rectangular sleeping bag into a quilt..
    I digress though

I am confident that the 1.1 DL is the right choice for you..

1.7 dl are for guys that approach 113 kg+ and I mean +.. I weigh a dense 109 kg and have rough housed with my 16 kg boy in it with not the first sign of stretching or ripping.
