I my self have only been at this a few months but I have tried three Warbonnet hammocks and have slept in them alot..

Environmental Science education so right with you on the metric..
what I hate is every weight and volume is metric but every distance and area is standard..

Also if you talk about a toxin water it is always mg/l or PPM but flow is always gallons per minute or per hour..

    Its like being by lingual.

I think 195cm is about as much as a Blackbird is going to reliably be comfortable.
That's just based on some of the early reviews a few years back. But again, anything to do with weight or height in a hammock is going to be very subjective. Just guidelines and suggestions in reality.

Metric vs Imperial is always a fun topic, but let's get this thread back on the topic of which hammock our incredibly tall Viking friend should get.

Fit and comfort are two different things..
I could fit into a size medium shirt but I would be much more comfortable in a l or xl

only the weight of the packed up hammock. When in use, I can't tell any difference. As others said, unless you are over say 250 pounds, you won't "need" the 1.7.

wish i have the $ to bye both of them
    .

I bought the 1.7 several years back and then spent the next several years (yes years) watching the For Sale forum for a 1.1 to be offered at a good price. Problem is that BB's tend to sell within a matter of minutes or hours so it took a long time to find one that someone else had not already claimed.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

the one posted yesterday, posted and sold in ONE minute.

I started being "FORCED" into metrics about 6 years back, when I started Orienteering. I now know my pace count in meters over level terrain to 100 meters, over rough terrain....etc. And all the maps are meters anyway.

I now to through a wrench in the works..
Do you want a standard or left laying hammock.
Most go with the standard but I love my lefty..
    This means that:
Standard your left shoulder is to the out side and you will feel any calf pressure on your right leg..
Lefty means your right shoulder is closer to the out side of the hammock and you feel any leg pressure on your right leg...

    I thought it wouldn't make a difference until I got a lefty..
My body for what ever reason is much more comfortable with the little bit of pressure on my right leg...

So I am a diehard lefty fan.. Really you might want to sit with your leg up and propped on something by the out side of your calf...
Do it once each with both legs and if you feel a significant difference in comfort you should use that as a deciding factor.

Again this is soley from my own experience but it has made a large impact on my comfort level.

Lefty BBs are an additional $20.

As far as fabric tearing the only time I would see you noticing a difference is if you snag it on something. I the1.7 might hold up a little better than the 1.1. But honestly I don't see how that can happen because both are transported in thier bags...

By the way I think mericans are the only ones who get to call our selves mericans.....

    I ked;I ked...
I its all good my brother from the land of the ice and snow...
