    pvc/bamboo treking poles

Hey guys, I just made a pair of trekking poles that double as spreader bars for my bridge hammock. Im really happy with how they turned out, but the color of the white pvc fittings really sticks out next the the bamboo color. Is there a way to stain or paint pvc? (would look great if the whole pole, fittings and all was black!)

This one looks cool, but I'm not sure what taking a blow torch to the pvc will do to its strength. http://www.instructables.com/id/Faux-Bamboo/

PVC should paint just fine with a plastic-specific spray paint (Rustoleum makes one, if memory serves). A little fine sandpaper taken to the PVC beforehand to roughen up its surface will help the paint stick.

    Hope it helps!

Thanks for the help guys! No pics yet---but be patient, I promise to do a complete review with pictures in a few weeks (needs a little more field testing first!)

Wonder if contact paper like lining kitchen drawers would work for ya. Could get a wood pattern and run it around the pvc. Should stick to it pretty good.
