Question on how to hang a rope hammock for the neighbour.

We just moved into an upstairs apartment and our downstairs neighbour asked me to help her hang her rope hammock in the yard.

The hammock is the type with wood spreader bars on both ends and some large heavy chains and S-hooks on the end. One end used to be attached to a large screw in the tree that is still there and the other end was attached to a pole in the ground that had since fallen over due to the weight. The closest tree is a mature birch on one side but is 30' away and I am wondering what is the best way to hang this rope hammock?

The neighbour really likes her rope hammock (plus she has pillows and accessories for it). Do I still make a ridgeline for this? I used the Iphone hang-app and was given a number about 11' off the ground if I'm using both trees for the final hang to be 2' off the ground. Am I doing the math right?

Best option would be a new pole/post or two with better installation in the ground to get them in the ground in a way that they will stay. Dig a hole, add post, add cement. Use stout poles like 6x6's. Other choice would be to build/buy a hammock stand to fit the hammock. Just remember that you don't hang a rope and bar hammock the way you do a camping hammock....2 different species all together. It does not need a ridgeline and there is no good way to make use of anchors that are 30 feet apart.

You could always make a stand out of 4x4 treated lumber for her. Not saying for you to buy the supplies, but its all in what you want to put into it to build it. It may be worth her looking around for a set that has a stand and hammock on sale somewhere, and she can use her hammock on the stand and save the other one in case something happens. The only reason I have any input on this is because we had a rope hammock and Ive been thinking of getting another one and building the stand as i mentioned before. Also, the 6x6 posts is a great idea too...
