Motorcycle hammock camp pics...feel free to post up your own.

I recently rode up to the Kern Plateau (the PCT runs right through it) to hammock at Horse Meadows and explore some of the logging spurs on the ride out the next day. The plan is to find some good spots to dry camp away from the beaten path and share my finds on a group camp with other DS riders later. Might get some hammock converts out of it.

The weather was golden...read I got into a massive thunder storm (with only a few rain drops) on arrival at the campground. Absolutely beautiful with the thunderheads! While it did get a bit cool but the 20 degree Hammock Gear Incubator and Burrow worked beautifully with the WBBB and AHE Toxoway tarp.

Woke the next day to breakfast, pack up, and head out to logging spur 23S41. This one takes you to the south side of Salmon Creek to a point just above the falls. Enough chatter, pics time. Please feel free to post up any of your own moto hammock camp pics here.

Thanks gang. Yup the Kern Plateau/Sherman Pass/Kennedy Meadows area is rich with some beautiful country. Kind of where the PCT begins to get good IMO (Walker Pass North). There are a number of fine logging spurs and fire trails to ride without destroying the reason we get out there. The bike is an 08 with much farkeling but hey ain't that what us Beemer types are supposed to do?

Heading back up there Wednesday since it will hit 106+ here below. Should be in the 70s (day) to 30s (night) there. Hit 29 one August night we set up.

    Law Dawg,

Glad to see you up and about; I take it your knees are behaving.

Outstanding country out in that neck of the woods, also is a fine example of German engineering.

Hey bud. Getting out and about with a few limits here and there.

The plan is to locate some good dry camp spots with good hanging trees to avoid flatlanders and campground...costs $17 a night with +$5 per extra vehicle. And as to the area it is no wonder backpackers trek all over it. What is not shown is the drop into Salmon Creek canyon...wish the knees/feet were up to some brush popping to get down to it.

I've got a Kawasaki KLX250s dual sport and I'm looking forward to doing some overnight trips on it. I'd like to find some bike friendly places I can ride and camp in NorCal.

Well near Pioneer is where THIS event is going to take place. It's a dedicated motorcycle campground for special events owned and hosted by Tim (TheOtherTim). The link is from www.Pashnit.com forum. Maybe give Tim (TheOtherTim...there are two, the site owner and TOT) a PM for local moto info and perhaps an invite to this event. Called Sopiago Springs and the whole area is DS heaven in the pines.

Glad to see there is another F800GS rider on this forum! I've got an Orange, 2011 F800GS and have been doing a bunch of hammock camping in southern California. We will have to exchange some good camping/riding spots!
