Thumbs up Hola from Ioway! (South Central)

    Hi Guys and Gals!

I was doing some research for backpacking gear and stumbled upon Sgt Rock's website. He's a lightweight backpacker and avid hanger. So once I discovered these nifty camping hammocks, I followed the trail around the interwebs until I stumbled upon Shug's videos which led me here. I've been hangin' around for a while soaking up information. Looks like a great forum!

Anyways, I'm a techy guy with ever-changing interests but have always enjoyed camping and hiking. The girlfriend and I love taking cross-country road trips, camping along the way. But neither of us sleep very well on the ground, so the prospect of getting a good night's sleep while hanging from trees is very enticing!

Thanks for putting all of this info on the web in one place, everybody! Maybe I'll see some of you out on the trail sometime! We were in the Smokies last year. I'm hoping to get out west soon, maybe to the Wind River Range or Glacier.

Had to dig out my old novelty Brazilian hammock to try out this diagonal lay business. It really works! I've got my eye on a Blackbird XLC, but for now, this is fun to toy with.

It occurs to me the diagonal lay is probably much more useful in an asymmetrical hammock, yes?
