I am proposing a hang in central PA on the weekend of May 1-3. I picked that weekend for no particular reason except it is early in the season and not overly close to the MAHHA Hang.
This is a weekend hang in the same place the whole weekend. We won't be moving from one site to another. But within easy reach of the site there is something for just about everyone. Approved trout water flows right by the sites. White Deer Hole Creek appears on the list of water fished by a local college fly fishing club so I would assume it has promise. I am not a trout fisherman, let alone a fly fisherman so I have no first had experience. It does not appear to be subject to special regulation.
Entrance to the site area is adjacent to trailhead for the Central Mountains Shared-use Trails system. This system covers 120 miles of trails developed for shared use between hikers, mountain bikers and equestrian use.
Within 15 minutes drive from this area is access to the Susquehanna River and some canoe/kayak waters. An hour father will place you at the northern access point for the Pine Creek Gorge and the rapids in the gorge.
Besides the shared use trails there are dedicated hiking trails which can be looped to provide just about any challenge you could imagine. The Mid State Trail is within easy access and can be looped back to the campsite with no problem.
I would propose arrival on Friday night with Saturday a day to engage in whatever activity you want regrouping Saturday evening for a group dinner. Sunday being a day to stay and gab or head for home as the case may be.
A quick view of the camping area and stream is available in the video "I took a Walk Today"
Unfortunately that weekend is still in the fire ban time frame for PA State Forests. That means the possibility of a campfire depends on the wether conditions and can not be predicted until a couple of days before the event.
