    Co-Organizer Needed for Fall MAHHA

I need a co-organizer to help with the Fall MAHHA this year and to organize it in the future. There are so many people that help with it, that it practically runs itself. I need someone who would like to work with me as the pre-event organizer and be the go-to person at the Blue Ridge Center.

Redtail and Bugbait started the MAHHA a number of years ago and I fell into posting about it when they stepped down. I find myself needing to step down as the main organizer as well. My attendance can't be guaranteed on a regular basis due to family needs. My step daughter is handicapped and her health has been declining over the past year and it can be difficult to plan weekends away from home. So to keep the Fall MAHHA running smoothly, I need a co-organizer.

Like I said the event pretty much runs itself. The date picks itself. The third weekend in October. The organizers simply remember to reserve the site and the port-a-potties. ABHarris is on the Board of Directors of the Blue Ridge Center and will answer any questions about the new site. Dutch runs the Saturday morning breakfast. We post a sign-up sheet for registration and all activities. The Jacks run the raffle and reimburse anyone who has spent money for the whole group. Hammock Forum members self-organize pre-hikes and activities during the weekend.

The organizers mostly find answers to people questions and post about it online before the event, ask online for volunteers to help with tasks during the event, and meet and greet during the weekend. The online Excel sheet keeps track of everything. We use the template from past years and usually just tweak it each year as necessary.

If anyone can help out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

    Happy Camper

Does the position require massive computer skills? I have very little talent/knowledge about spread sheets and such. I'd love to help if I could somehow work around my lack of skill. I'll do it if no one more qualified steps up. Willing to learn; my main credential. Oh and I backpack most weekends and try to pre hike/post hike at most MAHHAs so I hope that isn't a deal killer. Best thing would be someone highly qualified really wants to do it/take it over in the long run. I don't want to not offer my best for ya till that happens. Let me know how I can help.

For real my feelings won't be hurt if some one with the talent speaks up and wants to do this. I'm only volunteering to help take some of the load for HappyCampers sake. Oh that and I love Hammockforms.net and the good people here!

Thanks Two-Tents! We'll leave this open for a while to see if anyone else wants to help out. Many may be away on family vacation and 4th of July weekend. Appreciate your post!

I'd like to help out, but don't have a bunch of time and/or the people skills to help with the event organization.
    So.....
I have registered the domain name mahha-hang.com and am planning a website where folks can easily reach things like maps, schedules, photos, event details and so forth.
Ideally, this site would have 2 sections: Fall & Spring

Ain't nothing to see yet, but with the help of HF members, maybe we can build a convenient place to store all the event details.

PapaSmurf! Sounds like a great idea. Thanks! This will be a good event to give it a test run.

is there a thread / sign up sheet created for this hang? My wife and I are thinking about driving up for the fall one. She is new into hammocks but interested in camping in them.

There will eventually be an official Fall MAHHA thread with a link to an easy Excel spreadsheet. You'll have no trouble finding it, once it's posted. If you should happen to miss it (impossible), come anyway.
