My version of a portable hammock stand

Going to try a hammock for motorcycle camping. Going on a six month ride next year. Have a large tent for base camping, but want something for single nights on the road. Wanted to make a stand for those times trees may not be available.
Tripods are 1" .058 wall and ridge pole is 1 1\2" .058. All tubes are cut to 36" and splice tubes are tack welded to one part. The top of the tripods are welded together. Only fasteners are eye bolts to hang from and another eyebolt attached to top of hang bolt to tie tarp to. Disassembles to a manageable size and weights a little under 15lbs.

That is sweet. I like the tops of your tripods. Are those tops sturdy enough to prevent the legs from spreading or do you need to tie the legs. You should make a video of the setup and tear down. I would love to see a step by step of this build. I bet there are a bunch of people that would love to see one.

Its only been setup in house at this point. The tops held the legs just fine. I will be adding ties to center part of legs for insurance on uneven ground.
Will get better pictures. Setup of stand takes 2 or 3 minutes. Each leg is two pieces with shock cord to hold them together. Ridge pole is 5 pieces with snap pins. Legs plug into caps and two nuts on eye bolts.

    Very nice!

If I'm looking at it right, I suspect the eye bolts the hammock hangs from will bend inward and may need to be re-thought.

They could possibly, but would only bend to the point of being in line with the hang suspension. They are 3/8 so fairly stout.

    Very, very, nice.

I like the small size of your head units. Let us know of any problems you find as you test it thoroughly.
