DIY warbirds, need thread and needle recommendation stat!

Starting on this project and need the above. Could anyone could make a recommendation, that would be great, thanks! The in-house sewing expert needs to know what needle and what nylon thread.

The general recommendation on HF is for 100% polyester thread...some have said that nylon thread can present problems while sewing. The rest of us aren't going to fix what isn't broke and don't intend to find out.

You will want a sharp point needle (second choice = universal point) of the correct size for the thread you use.

I tend to use Gutermann's Sew All thread, available at Joann's, etc. with a # 11, 12 or 14 needle, or more commonly, the stronger (stronger than necessary) Gutermann's Mara 70, which is available at DIY Gear Supply, with a #12, 14 or 16 needle.

+1 Gutterman's . . . Sharps needle, size less relevant with thread that small.

I am experimenting with the gutermanns Mara 70 & having a difficult time winding it on the bobbin. I switched threads to make sure I was winding it correctly. It worked just fine with other threads, but the Mara doesn't wanna work smoothly in my machine. Just something to consider I guess.

I'm gonna try some of the gutermanns sew all that gmcttr suggested. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

This thread mentions some problems and solution for using the Mara 70.

Someone mentioned that if the spool is cross wound it needs to come of the spool horizontally or off a cone thread holder.
