Thanks for tracking down & sharing all these local Aussie hammock accessory vendors, simon.
If I ever have mystery that needs solving, I'll be sure to give you a call !

I'm just as bad...I regularly hit the 3 spotlights close to me,
marine chandlers & bunnings, trying to spot local alternatives for use when I'm hanging & bushwalking.

    Keep up the good work.
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

I was in anaconda today looking for some gear to do a DIY tubeless setup on my bike, which annoyingly kept me indoors all weekend and noticed they have webbing for sale by the meter, looked like they had 25mm and up...

    Rope strength testing

    Hi all,

I am getting closer to getting my hands on some of the Whittam 2.5mm and 3mm Hi Spec 3000 rope, and they have agreed to test the strength of some whoopie slings that I make up out of it. They may also re-test their rope as they have sourced some new yarn which may increase the rating - hopefully it doesn't decrease it .

Is there anything else that you would want tested? I was thinking of making up some soft shackles for testing, I have made some up in the Ocean 12 but will wait till I get the Hi Spec 3000. This is at my own expense so don't go too crazy .

Hopefully I will have the rope next week.

I have also tracked down some Aussie made 25mm polyester webbing and shock cord.

This stuff is not easy to track down retail hence why we all seem to buy the imported stuff. There is a definite gap in the market here so I am thinking of setting up a little online site where people can purchase some Aussie made DIY gear, at a reasonable price. What do you guys think is there a need for it? It will just give another option to go along side our Dutchware purchases .

I've thought about doing the same thing. I reckon if you get in with bushwalkers and a few other outdoor forums with Aussie diyers you'd be on a winner
