Hi everyone. I'm Dan, and I'm from Alexandria, Virginia.
I was an avid camper since my teens and all through the time I raised my two kids. They were camping babies, for sure. I had to give up any strenuous activity for health reasons when I hit 50 years old. Now, 5 years later, I've gotten the OK from my doc to pursue some light activity again.
I've kept a hammock in my camp kit for decades, but only really used it for naps or just hanging around, especially when I had the kids with me, as we always slept in a tent together. Now, I'll be doing more solo camping, and more one-nighters and I'm targeting the hammock as my main sleeping setup. I'm a (self-proclaimed) tarp expert, so I'm not new to stringing up protection from the elements. Sleeping outside a tent will be a new experience for me.
I have a few questions to ask the experts, but I'll post them in the appropriate forums. In the mean time, I'm overwhelmed by the amount of content to read through, and the sheer number of posts on the forum. Hammock camping must really be popular.
Thanks for letting me into the club, and I hope to be posting some pics of my setup soon.
Dan
