I bought the Kalisto Hammock to try hanging on the cheap. Same dimensions as the Hammock Bliss, very comfy for lounging. Tried sleeping in it one night, but I couldn't( mostly becasue I really wasnt tired and the giant outdoor light shining down on my face) but don't think I'd have a problem in the backcountry. Btw, I'm 6', 205 lbs.

The material doesn't seem to be high quality, as after less then 5 afternoons in it the fabric is opening up or tearing in places. May have to do with my mosquito bivy having buckles on it being pushed around.

Well just to preface.... I use the Warbonnet BB and love it, but I bought the Kalisto hammock as a lightweight, inexpensive place to set...

We string it up as close to the group as possible and use it as a chair, a lounger, a table etc.... it's lighter and cheaper then any chair / table I can find online.

I did switch out the ropes so I wouldn't damage the trees with 1" webbing and it works great.

    Enjoy my Kalisto

Been lurking and reading for quite some time. Was planning to make a hammock for camping, got the "gear-making-machine" and all. Was having trouble finding a suitable fabric when one day I saw the Kalisto in WallyWorld. Thought heck for the money I couldn't hardly make a 1st pass at hammock camping.

Have spent MANY an hour in hammocks such as a string one my daughter brought me from Mexico. Naps in hammocks seemed to lead to my finding this forum and the itch to hammock camp to save the weight in a backpack.
All that to say I have found sleeping in a hammock enjoyable, and the Kalisto to be a very sufficient hammock. Have changed out the ropes for webbing and ring buckle hang, and added a structural ridge-line. Have had no issues with strength and I am a big guy.

PS added a gear loft and Risk Style bugnetI made from mosy netting.

I found one of these at wally world for 10 bucks. The fabric isn't as nice as the rest of my hammocks, but it does have a comfortable lay.

If you go with a Travel style hammock be sure to get the double version. The comfort level is much higher than the singles IMO.
Are double hammocks the way to go? I'm 6'0" @ 190lbs. I don't want to be too long or wide.

My home sleeper has a fabric length of 120" and a width of 80" (Patterned after the ENO doublenest.) It is very comfortable. Within reason longer/wider is more comfortable. At times certain applications may require smaller hammocks (for example if ultra light weight is an issue then you can save weight with less fabric.) But for general use, the "double" is a real good choice.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I am a Newbie to hammocks but I always jump in with both feet even though the pool might be empty. In a month, I have purchased Byer Mosquito, Byer Traveler, Pawleys Traveler, and today I found Kalisto at WalMaart for $10. But the way, I got into this iswhen I found a Lawson on Craigslist for $50 last month. I enjoyed it so much that I started looking around for something lighter to throw in my daypack for hiking around the Santa Monica Mtns which are right across the street from where I live. I now have the ENO Doublenest from REI and ordered the WBBB from Brandon.
The Kalisto I just keep in my pack so I always have something to hang and not worry about whether I lose or damage it. The others I will rotate and see which one I like the best. I didn't realize how much fun it is just to go out and find a couple of trees to hang from out in the middle of nowhere!
    Kalisto, $10 no worries!

By the way, I did notice that the material is not as soft as the ENO and also the stitching was not as straight and even missed a few inches of the material where they meet! But what can you expect for $10!
