    So what's the advantage?

I am wondering what is the benefit or advantage of going with an 11' hammock vs a 10'? Also I currently have an ENO DN and do get a bit annoyed with the extra fabric from time to time but how do you figure out what width to go with for comfort? (I hope to upgrade with some Christmas money. I know it's a long way off but hey)

maybe try a diy tablecloth hammock? they are 126"x60". and then work up from there if you don't find it comfortable.

I started with a Hennessy Expedition Asym Zip and got a lot of calf cramps. After reading about the glories of an 11 ft. hammock, I gave a BIAS Weight Weenie Micro a try. I haven't had a cramp in my hammock since.

I also have a couple of tablecloth hammocks - no cramps there either even though they probably come out to 10 ft. once you sew channels or whip the ends.

While I prefer 11 ft. hammocks, a 10 ft. hammock does give you better tarp coverage over the ends of the hammock.

I used an ENO DB for the last couple of years and was happy with it. The extra fabric did seem to be a nuisance at times, but didn't bother me too much.

This year, I bought a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. This 11' hammock is much more comfortable to me. And, it seems much roomier, without the bother of the excess fabric. I really like it.

theres a slight difference in what youre asking about. the 11ft hammock doesnt *normally* make much difference in the width (ie: extra fabric at the sides). the extra foot of length makes a flater lie easier.

think of it this way: if you picture the hammock as a big "U" shape, the top points of the "U" being the hammock ends. if you put a 10ft hammock next to an 11ft hammock, the 11ft hammock would be more open and closer to "flat" that makes for a great sleep.

    hope that makes sense....

True, but with the design (and possibly because of the attached bug net or top cover?) of the XLC, it doesn't have that excess material on the sides that always seems to flop in your face or get in the way like the sides of the ENO DN does for me.

If you wanna get rid of that excess material do a Knotty mod to it. It's in a sticky in the DIY forum called stretch side hammock. That will solve the extra material problem.

yes, i was just speaking on fabric hammocks, not netted or specialty ones. i have a Henny DJXl and LOVE it, but it has pull outs and a bug net.

The longer length will increase your comfort by allowing better diagonal position
