    Sitting in the dark without power

    We had severe storms move through our area today.
    Sitting here in the dark when I should be in the workshop working on this week's builds.
    Man, I really don't have time for delays.

    They're upgrading the power in my area and warned us of rolling brownouts or whatever they're called. It's quite annoying when you're trying to get something done and the power just dies for a couple of hours.

    I feel your pain.

    There was an Old Man with a owl,
    Who continued to bother and howl;
    He sat on a rail, And imbibed bitter ale,
    Which refreshed that Old Man and his owl

    Yeah I heard from family at home that NE ohio was flooding like crazy with no power. Crazy cause the weather here in NC is perfect.

    There is little reason to sit in the dark today you can make a "poor" man's UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) You need a cheep trickle charger, a 12 volt car battery Deep Cycle a Tupperware to put it in, Must fit with room on top and the best inverter you can afford... I suggest Harbor Freight for all this. I would also add a 3 port 12 volt block on top for direct charging of 12 to other phone or electronics. All you do is label the power cables and and move them over to the Inverter during the failure and turn it on. Here is what it looks like it provides a 32 flat screen power for 4-6 hours. with a 300 watt inverter. It can power a Vios Digital box and TV - if the Vios is down I switch back to Antenna from the roof.... the Computers are all on professional UPS with replaceable 12 volt alarm batteries...

    I have several tall stranded torchiers that support 17 watt and 30 watt CFL lamps that will also plug into the inverter - that's 6-8 hours of light.... No noise, lots of light - TV and computer.... Winning.

    Wonder how long it would power a Juki 8700?

    I need to think about this, is it okay if I contact you with some questions. I have been wishing I had the knowledge to figure out how to set up something like this. Thank you for posting it.
