Hi Medicine Man. You might remember me as I helped you with a shuttle 3 years ago. Curious as to which two bridges? 68/80 from Canton to Fenton or a bridge south on Barkley to the bridge at Dover, TN?

Anytime but Thanksgiving and you could count me in, kayaking or at the least for a shuttle. Darn.

Will keep an eye on this thread. I have a canoe that I am a novice in. However I am already taking a week off of work to do the Keys in October. Sounds like a fun trip.

LessPayne, you'll love the Keys for sure..nice warm balmy water, sandy beaches....but you are welcome to join us too.
Turtl2 of course I remember you. Met you via Neo and you made that trip possible. It would be wonderful having you kayak with us (preferred) or helping shuttle.
Speaking of, Poof and I both got our days off approved by the varying powers so we are in! Fingers crossed many others join the flotilla.

Turtle2, forgot to answer your question. It is the 68/80 bridge, so the whole trip is 50ish miles...planning on 10-12 miles/day and on good days with water miles under the spraydeck walking inland and exploring a bit.

Both lakes, Kentucky and Barkley,,can be down alittle during the month of Nov. and if we have rain,,can be stained water,,kinda brownish. I have fished both lakes quite extensively. At that time of the year,,most winds,,will be either out of the west or northish,,if its a warm front,,south to southwest. I once wrecked a Nat. Team Skeeter Bass boat coming out of Demumbers Bay on Barkley as the lake was down 4' and it was a Nat. Bass finals tourney with a lot of money on the line to win,,I was in the top 10 after the first day,,but when wrecked,,did 9k damage to the motor and transom of the boat hitting a rock wall underwater coming out of the bay on point at about 65 mph. I am sure you will play the wind and weather, also be aware that hunting season will be in full swing at that time of the year. ,Have fun,,be safe as I know you will. Looking forward to the trip reports of this.

Just FYI, that is traditionally opening of duck season in KY. The lakes will be rife with duck hunters that whole four days.

Watch out for all the decoys,,if your kayaking thru them. Those southern boys,,do take their duck hunting serious!

Several years ago we paddle during the Thanksgiving holiday near Charleston on Quimby Creek and it was their duck hunting season. It was fascinating how the hunters had turned their boats into floating duck blinds!
