    Noobie tree strap question.

I loving the hammock. Carry one with with wherever I go. I do have a question though about my tree straps. I put them around the tree, put the tail end through the loop, attach my whoppie with a MS hitch. But after I get in the tree straps are moving down the tree slightly. It is a little unnerving, especially when it wakes you out of a dead sleep.
    What am I doing wrong?

Hmm, what kind of straps are they? Do they slip on all trees? Try and additional wrap around the tree.
Are you milking the bury of you whoopie slings are adjustments? Sometimes they can slip if not milked enough.

If you pull the strap nice and tight against the tree it may move a bit but not much unless you are on a slick barked tree.

+1 on milking out the bury completely.

I was using tree straps that slipped in the night. Scared the heck out of me. I though something was trying to share my hammock with me, uninvited.
It was the first time I had used those straps on anything but spruce trees or larger rough-barked trees. The straps did not have a soft feel to them and they were slick, but I did not expect them to slip. They did not slip far, but when you are asleep, any distance is scary. I now use straps that are soft and not slippery.

They are DIY straps. Nothing out of the ordinary about the straps. It may be the milking which is the problem. I have a 9 inch bury but I may not be milking them enough. Thanks for that suggestion.
It's true countryroads when it happens on the middle of the night it will jolt you awake. They do not slip far but any movement feels like a lot at 4:00am. Especially with a full bladder.
