Ya its in mo. Like the hills. IL where im at is way to flat.
MP thanks for the reply. Hiker and kayaker here....suppose I could do a little biking too. I am planning on hitting the Iowa hang on Nov. 15th. Just tested my setup at 25* and I was perfectly comfy.
My buddies and I have hung in Apple River Canyon in Illinois, Yellowstone Lake in WI, Mississippi Palisades in IL, New Glarus WI, and a few others. Mostly car camping but I'm up for whatever really.
I don't know how I missed this post, but I will be watching in the future. My wife and I bike up and down the Centennial Trail and the I&M all the time. The farthest south we have been was around Lockport. I remember reading something about a campsite, but never followed up on it. Glad it is a walk-in so that it is not crowded. Around here if you can drive in you must make reservations a year ahead. I would definitely be interested in an overnight some weekend along the I&M. Cold weather is not an issue. Hopefully I can jump in on a local trip. Time is the one thing that makes it tough for getting out. As for other places, Sand ridge and Forest Glen (near Danville) are walk-ins.
Oms, I hiked Sand Ridge. It is great!! See my report here
On 11-9-13 coolkayaker1 and I are going to hike Ottawa to Marseilles(or vice-versa). Then I am going to Illini SP to hang on Sat nite. ck1 has family obligations and can't stay overnight. We would be glad if you would join us.
