Hello! I was wondering if it was safe to use a climbing rated carabiner attached directly to tree straps (through a loop) and then attached directly to the whoopie slings on my hammock.
Thanks!

That's what I always do when all adjustment can be done with a twist of the strap around the tree followed by a re-cinching.

Technically if you are using the biner through one loop of your strap to the whoopie you would be absolutely fine. However, if you are using the biner with both loops of your strap them the whoopie, that would be three way loading the biner. That should then require a tri-link to safely send the loads to the corners instead of trying to pull a biner in three directions.
Carabineers are perfect for hammock camping:

That's just about how I do it... I run the original hennessy tree hugger straps through the biner, then tie into it with the tie-out ropes.
I marlin spike hitch a biner to the tree strap to connect my suspension

Carabiners are so overbuilt for our purposes you could probably hang on the gate with no issues.
They are quick and convenient. And you don't have to worry about your whoopie going behind the knot when used as a marlin spike hitch.
I use biners to connect my tree straps to my Hennessy cords....love it!
