So I decided on continuous loops on standard 1" cinch buckles.
The triangle cinch buckles were cost prohibitive for a shortrun from my local metal stamper. They would have allowed for a fixed position for the continuous loop but now with the standard buckle, I had a problem to solve.
I've noticed that the chain links like to slide to one corner, torquing the sinch buckle to an angle that offsets the straps from a perfect overlay.
The overlay of the strap material provide the locking on the strap so I wasn't happy about the offsetting caused by a single wrap of amsteel.
Solution?
6 wraps of amsteel around the cinch buckle.
Adds another 7 inches to the continuous loop calculation.
I went with a 12 inch loop, 7.5 inch bury, 1 inch taper and 7 inch wrap.
2 down, 38 to go.
If there is a down side to this setup, please speak up before I spend the rest of the weekend splicing, thx.
