Hello! Name is Daniel. ("Shevek" is a character from a book called The Dispossessed.)
I've been hammock camping since I bought my first Hennessy almost a decade ago. (Saw one displayed in a store and bought it on a whim.) A couple years ago I threw out my bed and bought a hammock stand for my bedroom. I have also converted a couple other backpackers into hangers. I have used this site for much information over the years but never registered until this month.
In a couple days I'll be taking two younger friends out hiking. It will be a first backpacking experience for one, and a first hammock camping experience for both. They will be using my two Hennessy hammocks (one outfitted with a Wilderness Logics tarp) while I test out my new setup: an ENO Doublenest Deluxe outfitted with a MacCat Deluxe tarp, KAQ New River underquilt and a DIY Fronkey-style bug net. I wouldn't have ever come up with this setup if not for Hammockforums!
I love dehydrating my own camping food. I'm working on a series of videos about my technique. I also love filming wildlife, though it is just a hobby for me (for now anyway).
