    Pics of my DIY Hammock

I followed the instructions from a couple different posts here, mainly the gathered end hammock post. I ended up re-gathering and whipping the ends a couple times to get it right. I'm pretty happy with the results. Also, I had enough material left for a few stuff sacks.

It's longer, wider, packs smaller, more comfortable, and much lighter than my eno single nest. It tips the scales at a scant 10.75oz(according to my kitchen scale) with stuff sack, whoopie slings, tree straps, and toggles.

It's 50 cents more per yard than their other 1.1 ripstop, but it matches a marpat assault pack that I had. You gotta accessorize! lol

A big thanks to all the contributors of this forum. I love the DIY project section. Loads of great ideas and wonderful tutorials.

I wanna try another with Cat cut on all sides and prettier seams. Stoked. Learning to sew is quite fun.

I've laid around in it quite a bit, but i've yet to take it on a trip and sleep a full night in it.

Re: Pics of my DIY Hammock

I understand, I just started learning to sew a few months ago and its a blast. Hammocks are a great place to start, nice long seams to try to do straight. Try is the key word cuz I still haven't figured that part out yet. I just finished my 3rd hammock (2nd useable) and its a great feeling being able to chill out in something you just made.

Love that 1.1 Marpat. I've made a 12 foot channel end out of it. With the fabric as wide as it is, you can hear an echo inside the hammock. Gonna use it as the outer shell for a TQ with some of that Argon stuff that Dutch is selling for the inner shell.

I'll likely start a bit of discussion between camoheads out there, but I think MarPat is the best fabric to make large items like tarps and hammocks out of as it doesn't repeat as much. Even multicam will have a noticable repeated pattern on a tarp.

You did a good job on the hammock and the stuff sack, too.

thanks a bunch. I love the digital woodland stuff too. I have several of the Marine Marpat Camo Assault Packs that i bought at auction. I had 60 of them at one point because i bought a huge lot! i've sold most of them now, but I have like 10 of them full of random stuff haha. Anyway the hammock matches the backpack perfectly.

The stuff sack is coming apart at the bottom seams. I didn't hem the bottom round piece i just stitched it. I should have used some grosgrain or double rolled it but it was pretty tough to sew a small circle like that. Chock it up to a learning experience.
