    Help! Patching Question

Last night I'm in the middle of sewing my first top quilt. Everything is going surprisingly well (my only previous sewing experience is a tarp), I'm gaining confidence. Then disaster. My fabric snares and I'm left with a small tear in the ripstop.

My question is, what is my best solution to fix this? I could sew a patch from my excess ripstop onto the hole, but I feel that will just create a small draft point, which even though this is a summer quilt and that probably isn't a big deal, still seems kind of heartbreaking. Is there any kind of tape I could use? Or something adhesive like that?

My materials are standard 1.1oz ripstop for the liner and a single layer of 2.5oz Climashield for the insulation.

Here is a picture of the tear.

    Thanks for any help!

    The photo doesn't show.

My .02...sew on the patch. I'm not sure why you think this will allow a draft. Same ripstop and stitching as the rest of the quilt.

Use a Sharpie or embroidery to put your initials on the patch and call it a manufacturers name tag.

Sorry photo doesn't show, not sure why? I can see it.

Hole is about the size of a quarter, I guess I am being a ninny about sewing the patch on. And I do like the thought of turning it into a manufacturers name tag. Brilliant!

It's only when you're stitching through all the layers of the quilt that you're potentially creating a place for a draft. The patch is only going to be on one layer of the ripstop so I wouldn't worry about it at all.

And the idea of using the patch to create a name tag is just simply brilliant - hopefully the patch is somewhere that the 'tag' looks like you planned it that way!

The hole is near the edge, so I think it will be about perfect for an "official" patch. Very cool idea, I'm almost glad I wound up with a hole in the first place. Almost.
