    Driducks Undershield came today!

I ordered a driducks undershied from the Jacks and it showed up today. I was very surprised how warm it was! And how light it was! I hope to sling it up and get some pics.

I'm interested in one of these as well to use as a shield for my UQ and the bottom of the hammock when it rains. Shug shows it set up on his Blackbird in his last video. It looks pretty slick.

Here are some (albeit not very good) pics of a poncho on my BB

    Equipment Failure!

Equipment failure! On my camera that is, my battery is dead so I have to charge it up. I of course found this out AFTER I set up the hammock with the quilt and the poncho in the backyard (all while helping my kid study for her Latin quiz tomorrow so if she does bad is it my fault?). Anyway, some first impressions. I got the "carbon" because the green was out of stock. At first I was a little bummed but I really like it, it nutes the color of the underquilt and helps the setup have a more "stealthy" look and feel. Initally I was a little bummed because there were no installation instructions but those were quickly quelled as setup is very intuative. In many ways it goes on just like a regular Jacks quilt. There are velcro strips to mate with the "footbox" strips on the quilt. The drawstrings help to cinch up things nice and tight. In poncho mode it fits nicely over my backpack (seen here) Another HUGE difference I noticed is how much "warmer" the poncho feels compared to my regular poncho. I broke out my kitchen scale to compare the two. It maxes out at 16 oz. My old poncho (now dubbed "the loaner") pegged the scale and by my best guess is somewhere between 20 to 24 oz. The DriDucks weighs in at a trim 9 oz so a significant weight savings! The poncho also has a built in stuff sack. While I doubt I will ever be able to pack it was well as I received it from the Jacks, it is very "field packable". (As opposed to the stuff that packs great at home but never fits when you are out in the field. I don't have the smarts or the know how to measure this but I bet the insulating power of the poncho will add 10-15 degrees of comfort before you factor in wind and dampness issues. I am bummed not to have pics, they will be up ASAP I promise you don't have to sic NC Patrick or Mac on me! Thanks Jacks, thus far I am very pleased!

Did you get the poncho with the weather shield kit installed? Looks like both the green and the gray are out of stock now.

    Ashman, et al,

Glad that you are pleased with your JRB modified DDP....

It is very breathable and since there is a minor fuzziness to the inside (like the original JRB Weather Shields) it should be a degree or so warmer than 1.1 DWR or Sil.... We feel that it adds 6-10 degrees of warmth.

The Green and Carbon sold out very quickly....Carbon has been discontinued by DD..... We have reordered the Green and the new color for 2009, royal blue (for those of you that like some color ).

DD expects to ship to JRB in 7-10 days .... So the DDP will be back in stock shortly at JRB.

Crap, crap, crap. I should have bought one of the carbons colors when I had the chance.
