    Tree substitute

I don't have two tres close enough to hang in my backyard to experiment and need to install something. Prefer a removable pole of some sort. Anyone do something like this?

If you want removable I saw somewhere a hanger filled a 5gallon bucket with cement, but leaving a PVC pipe in the center to create a hole. He then buried the bucket of cement and dug a small hole to meet the PVC hole. He was then able to place a metal pole into the PVC hole when he wanted to hang, and when he didn't he could just slide it out and put it away and you would never know it was there.

Lots of ways to hang without trees. Do you have a post or sturdy wall at one end? You can use a sturdy pole and strong pegs, or find a solid fixed anchor point somewhere. The pole will provide the height, just put your mind to it and you will come up with a way.

You could always try a Turtle Dog Stand.

That sounds like a perfect solution and similar to what I was thinking. Brilliant, thanks! Has anyone ever tried using a ladder?

Actually, I really like that idea. I have two aluminum step ladders that would work pretty good as a mockup. Now I just need a ridge pole and I'm all set. This won't be pretty but it should work as a place to hang on the porch with very little investment.

Well I can tell ya two things about using a ladder as a tree replacement. You can hang a hammock this way..................................but ya cannot climb in it. The ladder will fall right over and conk you in the head! DOH! But it was a good way to play with my new Mega Ogee just before last night's rain. Love this tarp!!!

    Completely envelopes the Clark NX-250

    Nice and roomy underneath!

    Pretty sweet overall.

I used the Cedar Tree on one side, and a lag shield with an 800lb SWL eye bolt into my brick wall on the other side. Works great

You could use a PHS (Portable Hammock Stand)

The ladder will work if you back tie it to a couple of stakes.
