    Sick of wet ground!

    Hello there.
I figured I would give a shout of from South Florida.
I currently live in Fort lauderdale but have lived across North America(California, Tennessee, aand Vancouver British Columbia to name a few) and have always been passionate about the outdoors. Unfortunately up untill a few weeks ago my mind was stuck on associating sleeping outside with tents. And then a wonderfull thing happend. .. I stumbled across hammock forums! It changed my entire perspective on sleeping outdoors.

As you probably know south florida is quite a wet place. Between marsh and rain things can get a tricky when setting up a tent. When it rains here it poors and your nice dry ground can quickly turn into a small pond. This hasnt aloud me to go out amd fully enjoy what floridas wilderness has to offer. Now thanks to my new Hammock and tarp(and a little technical advice from HF of course) I can get off the ground high and dry of all the mess! I love it.

Welcome. I just started hanging the past year myself.

I spent a weekend near McAfee Knob a couple months ago. Wet, soggy and rained both nights. Buddy swore he did not want to get wet in his hammock so he packed in a HEAVY tent and blue poly ground tarp. (Seriously, his pack was every bit of 70 lbs)

Guess who woke up in 1/4 inch of water? Let's just say I was glad I was above the water line.

He will never live that one down.

My girlfriend rolls her eyes every time I talk about all the stuff I've learned from being on the Hammock Forums. Or maybe it's when I get something new in the mail

Welcome to the forums, and yes it is great to be able to sleep without wallowing in the mud.

Haha. Ever since my new obsession with hammocks I have seen my girlfriends attitude change a little bit towards the mail man... Its almost as if she thinks its his fault for the constant bombardment of gear. Oh well...

Btw, Thanks for all the greetings. This forum seems to be filled with really positive people which is pretty refreshing. (Most forums are filled with.... lets just call them jerks)
