Tarp Size.

Is a 10' x 12' tarp overkill? My hammock is 9'.

Depends on the weather conditions you plan on using it in. Rain driven snow or rain, and you will be glad you have a tarp that size. Clear blue sky and yep, its overkill

I have never done any snow camping due to my location in the world. Most of my trips and sunny, with a 30% chance of rain. Thats about FL forcast during the summer. Winter its sunny, and some wind.

Tarps aren't just about size...design should be something you are considering as well.

There is a real nice tarp in there that is not huge, but because of the shape, can be wrapped around the hammock to form a coccoon like enclosure. I would think it would be perfect for your situation...

Thats the one i started to make, but as this is my first time ever using a sewing machine and time is lacking it has turned in to a simple rectangle.
