I got mine in an MSR guy line kit. I think it had 8 Fig 9s and 50' of reflective line. REI rocks!

Trust nobody!
I think they're smokin' crack on that price.
I've been looking for these and calling around trying to find them since JaxHiker's post. I stumbled upon them last night in Sports Authority. Picked up two sets for $10 each. They look perfect for tarp tie downs, although I still plan to use a metal one on the tarp ridge line.

Good find. I'll have to see if my local SA carries them. I still use metal for the ridge line as well.
I use one of the Fig. 9 carabiners on the ridge tie-out. That way I can use a regular toy biner on the ridge line and clip it around the tree like I do with my suspension straps. Works well, and it's pretty fast and easy.

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver
Just curious what the advantage of the figure 9 is over a truckers hitch, at least for 3 season use, I suppose the knot could freeze in the winter.
I'll admit its all I can do not to buy them when I see them but it would just be one more thing to carry/loose.
So aside from the coolness quotient what is the advantage?
Thanks
