Not the three in the Denver area I've been to in the last month. I figured the Flagship store downtown would have it, but I was sorely disappointed. I'm going to check Big 5 and Bass Pro this weekend, but I've already picked up a couple of the soak packages.
Trust nobody!
Did you ask someone there? Reason I'm asking is that it's not where I would look for it in my local REI, I just sorta stumbled on it.
No I didn't. Probably should have, but it's like a guy asking directions when he is lost. It can be done, but you don't really want anybody to see you do it.
Trust nobody!
I've been bitten several times through a single layer, so I know my local (SW Ohio) skeeters can get through single layer enough to do damage. But, under the same conditions* I've never been bit through the two double layered hammocks I got.
I do know that there are larger skeeters in other parts of the world, saw a few in Canada That if they worked in groups of 4, could carry off a full sized Moose.
So those could likely get you through a Kevlar vest AND the ballistic plate.
*Skeeter season, proper temps, NO UQ, etc.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.
Clark claims they are skeeter proof.
When I was a kid the only time we were in the house was to eat and sleep.
I've been bitten thru double layers. So no. Does it reduce the bites, yes.
Treat your hammock with permethrin, you'll be a happier hanger.
I have been treating my hiking clothes the past few seasons and have only seen one tick, on my leg while wearing shorts and very few skeeter bites. My REI has it by all the bug repellant stuff. After watching a few videos on youtube I think I'm going to use Stick's method of soaking. You can get the concentrated permethrin on amazon and it goes a whole lot further than the spray from REI. You can make gallons and gallons from the concentrate for around $30 vs. the small (by comparison) bottle from REI for $16.
