A First on Last Nights Hang

I've been at this for around 2 1/2 years. Over 28 nights in a hammock outdoors and temps down to the Mid 20's at the 2nd & 3rd Annual Florida Hangs. With our hangs during the dry season in Florida I hadn't even experienced a rain until this past month in Maine. Then last night the unusual hot weather brought on a magnificent severe thunderstorm. Had to dash from the RV just to get tucked away before the rains started. Awesome display! Wasn't able to see Mt. Waldo, 1/2 mi away, and the 3 antennas from my hang location but I'm sure some must have taken hits. The show continued for about an hour before moving off.

But alas, every silver cloud has a black lining. The wind died, the humidity soared and it was hot. Had to finally forsake the hammock and seek the AC. My wife just walked thru and said she thought she had heard more thunder off in the distance.

Sounds beautiful - not sorry I missed it! The only time I've been rained on in the hammock it wasn't warm weather...yet...

But...I did agree to go on the No Underquilt Hang, and it's 'that season' around here, so a warm damp night in the hammock may be in the near future. Duffy got me a battery-powered fan...

Sounds as if you had fun, I like rain, but storms with lightening I don't know. Hang tight, we need you back down this way.

Some of the most incredible and memorable nights in the woods have been to lay there witnessing a good lightning storm. Awesome and a little terrifying at the same time.

When I finally gave it up I was thinking about all of you hanging the no underquilt hang.

We'll be thinking of you, too...especially when the hike back to the truck is over an hour, and then a 2 hr drive to the a/c in the house!
