No, goats aren't allowed on the AT.
Goat hiking is way too cool. I've seen a few people out here with goats. There are places in Estes Park that rent some kind of pack animal, but I can't remember what. You take a half day class to learn how to pack them and take care of them, then you go hiking with them. I posted about it here a while back, just can't find it. Still goats are better cause you don't have to bring food for them, they just graze from what I understand.

And they taste like lamb when young, so they may be good for emergency food

    Vigilguy, nice sherpas!

I saw something similar while up in Glacier Nat Park when I was in there in the 80's. I saw some wild ones and they turned out to be very calm and we got up pretty close. Got some pics if interested.

BTW, I'm new here and have ordered my 1.7 BB with superfly. I got the 1.7 because I mainly canoe camp and weight isn't that important. This group seems really cool and I can't wait to start hangin'.

Hmmm, there's a place here in W.V. too which has llama packing.

I had never heard of pack goats until I ran across N0TU videos on youtube,
followed a few days later by the Vigilguys's goats. Wonder which animal makes the best packer ? Kinda nulls out the ultralite thing I guess. The stronger weight hammock may come in handy should the goat decide you look like a large stone.
