    Doors on a tarp

I was looking at the tarps on Warbonnet today. I see they sell door sets for their tarps. The purpose seems to be for warmth but what about privacy. As a woman on the trail, would the doors be a good idea for changing/dressing or is it really not necessary? It's not like I'm a hot, young thing. But I wouldn't want to scare anybody.

Anyway, any opinions on the privacy issue? Thanks

I can't speak from a woman's point of view, having never been one, but any of the tarps (without doors) Warbonnet sells will provide adequate privacy when not pitched in "porch mode." Having a tarp with a door kit or the Superfly (built in doors) would provide absolute privacy from the shins up.

As long as there isn't anyone around with a foot or ankle fetish, you're set.

The doors do offer an extra level of privacy.
Hex tarps are open on the ends.

As a guy I use tarps with doors in winter for added protection from the weather while bin summer I use a hex tarp with no doors. For me its about saving weight when I can. However my wife will only go hammock camping if I bring along a tarp with doors for her. She likes to have the added privacy when changing her cloths
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I wouldn't spend the money solely for privacy. You can always hang a jacket or towel on the ridgeline which would block you to a certain degree.

    Doors on a tarp

Poncho and quilt on either end for privacy if needed. Although I've used a Hennessy and the tarp makes it tough so I just change in the hammock. My Tadpole is easy to hide behind.

There are a few recent threads about it. Basically for weather but work for privacy as do the other suggestions. Put the sides down low and sit in the hammock and not much is hanging out. ;-) From there it is situation dependent.
    YMMV

I like my doors, more so when in a public campground or group camping than out in the bush by myself!

As long as the bugs aren't bad I can stand beneath the tarp and change clothes easily. When the bugs are bad, I do the struggle inside the hammock with the bug net closed...

A couple of options in addition to pulling the sides down, sitting on the hammock. A poncho gives you room and privacy any where to dress. A towel with a little practice works fairly well, unless it is cold or really buggy. I have used a big old sleep shirt as a modesty shield, a blanket, a poncho is my favorite. Not cold in the winter, keeps the water off, easy to get dressed, I do not get tangled up in it.

As another female type, I can say that the doors offer a modicum of privacy. Although i always camp with a group that often includes a lot of strangers (via Meetup), I rarely employ them except in driving rain or cold, windy conditions. I find it easier to simply make my camp a little ways from the main group and change in the dark or take my clothes and change in the woods. I often sleep in porch mode.
