Skeeter Beater Pro

Hey everyone, I was looking for any and all comments you have on the skeeter beater pro. Its my 1st hammock, and Id like to get your take on what I should and shouldnt expect from it.......craftmanship, longevity, quality, how comfy is it, and everything ive missed. Thanks in advance.......Chris

BTW....I just ordered my SF tarp, and apparently it'll take about a month to recieve. After it comes in... i'll post up pics of my set-up

Of the five hammocks that I have the SB Pro is in the top two. Very comfy, put the ridge line mod on it and you will be set.

I have the SBPro and really enjoy it, though I havn't put in the ridgeline mod. I do hang a Tarp Ridgeline with or without the tarp and use shock cords and prussick loops to keep the net raised off me. Lots of room in it and so comfy. I got mine last year from Amazon for $45. Spent 4 nights in it last week and best rest ever.

Skeeter beeter Pro is solidly acceptable... Possibly even more.

I think its a pretty nice size... I always hung mine with too much sag to do a ridge line inside the net (stretched net too tight), but I did add one just over the net, then used a short piece of shock cord from one tie out, over the ridge line, to the other tie out...Was always comfy. Little bit more calf ridge then some of my other hammocks, but a good price to get you going with a bugnet and all.

My biggest issue with it was always that I wanted a removeable bugnet... They say you just flip it over, but I never liked that. Probably because I always had lines set up to hold up the bugnet with out setting up each time... Either way that isn't really a fault of the hammock, just the nature of me picking the wrong style.

Lot of little loose threads, my stuff sack kept busting seams and eventually tore loose, the net pockets inside are useless for anything more then limp balm, the stock suspension is heavy and by the time you upgrade you are not THAT far off some better options... I think I added a double ended stuff sack (~$15), adjustable ridge line ($12) and whoopies (~$25) to the SBP (~$60) and had I spent $112 all at once it may have been worth it to go up to something like $140 for BIAS setup with woopies, adjustable rl, bugnet and lightweight 11 foot...
But starting out and unsure if I wanted to invest, $60 for the GTSBP and like $5 for straps that I cut buckles off of was an awesome way to get started cheap... And upgrading with little low dollar additions here or there takes away a lot of the sting from some of the higher price more complete setups.

What feels good to me, may not to you, but mine is 104"

Slept in one all last week. Love it so far. It's been used at a bunch of scout outings this year.

Just got a SBP and looking to do a ridge line mod. With your 104" is that inside the bug net or outside? How much do you weigh? I'm about 225 and don't want to pull on the bug netting too hard.

Any advice on determining the right length for a ridge line for me?
