Can you use like a tent spray on it instead for waterproofing?

No, that stuff just stops fabrics from absorbing water. In a good rain, the holes can drip from the pressure, or it can wick through...

You may want to consider sealing the ridge line. I had mine out in a rain storm that went on for 5 or 6 hours and mine leaked after a few hours of steady rain and the pull outs had a very steady drip. I ended up with one wet arm while trying to cook dinner on the fancy feast stove. Don't get me wrong I am in love with my sf but until you seal everything it may not keep you 100% dry. Its a fantastic piece of gear and has made my life better while out hanging. The doors are great for that wind blown rain.

Just picked up the sealant from Auto Zone, now if I could just get my order in from Warbonnet.

Definitely worth the wait! But get some snakeskins for it. Don't think about it, just do it. I learned the hard way how convenient they are: my first time setting up the sf was in a pretty bad wind, and everything became a huge tangled mess. I eventually got it set up, but it was like a comedy of errors.
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.
