One of the guys I hike with uses a self inflating pad in his claytor and has never complained about it. You can always make some cheap wings for cold weather to give you extra insulation around your hips and shoulders. Just cut up a cheap CCF pad.

    One more little trick...

You can use seam sealer to paint a sticky lattice on your pad.

I'm 5'8"/163# and the 2X2 works great for me, cut up an old CCF pad for the wings or use Reflectix, no cold elbows. With the SPE you can stack two pads and hammock well below freezing.
my pad 'squirts' as well, fully inflated, partial, whatever. if those out there use pads, thermarest prolite in particular, my new design may be of interest. I finished altering the design, now i have to make the vid, hopefully this week. I guess if cash is no problem, then $35 for the speer is fine, but the one i made cost approx $5, and not so ugly, actually you dont notice it at all.

You're going to tease us like that and then not fess up some details? I'm curious, as I'll be using my Thermarest SIP this season and am expecting slippage.
