Hello all. I just finished my new winter tarp using the DIYGS winter tarp pattern. Came out great and didn't take half the time I thought it would putting it together.
I used a "bow" made from 1/2" pvc pipe to make the cat curves - shown here: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=76344
Total length is 11' 11" from door edge to door edge. The ridgeline is 10' and is made from 1" grosgrain folded in half. Super strong.
Got the material 30d syl (2nds) from Quest Outfitters : http://www.questoutfitters.com/coate...20OZ%20RIPSTOP
I chose the grey as it came in a 65" width. The 2nd's material was flawless - looks just like 1st's material.
Total cost was less than $75.00 - including the shipping from Quest Outfitters. Total time to make was about 6 hours. The greatest time spent was squaring and cutting the edges. The cat curves were cut at one time (sheets together one on top of the other) - this made the lengths the same when it came time to sew the pieces together.
I used 1/4" seams all the way around. The cat curve depths are 3.5" and 5". I used 12" long, 1" grosgrain for the pull outs instead of heavy pack cloth. 3/4" Metal rings for the ends of the ridge, 1" triangles for the door ends and 1/2" beastee dee rings for the other side pull outs.
I haven't weighed it yet, so hold on. I still need to make the panel pulls later today or tonight. I'll post pics of those when it's done.
