    hello from NOVA

    Hi,
I am a Unix Sys Admin from Alabama living in Northern Virginia. I am very much a homebody, but have been getting yearnings to get outside. I'm looking at buying a ENO DN for my first hammock. I've already been lurking around for about a week reading as much as I can so that when I pull the trigger it should go well.

Hey Mothball, I am in Herndon (also known as Oak Hill). I am also trying to get into this. If you have FB, check out https://www.facebook.com/VirginiaHangs group of guys from here, that started a community for the local guys.

What's up mothball67 and sdveirs -- welcome to the forum! I'm in Chantilly, not too far from you guys.

I don't get out to hang much these days... maybe twice a year nowadays. I've been relatively quite on the hammock forums for the past year or two, but feeling the "call" to hang again!

Mothball67, I have an ENO DN and it's a perfectly fine hammock to use, beginner or otherwise. You should run over to the REI at Fairfax Corner and grab one!

You'll find that hammocking is more like a grand experiment in figuring out what the "right" angle, equipment, gear, etc. will help you get out and go! There are a lot of options, as you are well finding out on the great many topics here on HF. Taking your time to read up on and learn about hammocking is a good thing, but don't take too long because you'll miss out on opportunities to LEARN what it is to BE hammocking.

Welcome from a northern neighbor (MD).
I think the ENO is a great starter hammock. There are so many choices it can really get overwhelming, don't let the choices paralyze you.

It will quickly and easily bring you up to speed of a lot of the info here.

And make sure you make plans to come to MAHAA - 100 hangers can't be wrong.

Welcome! I am a newbie myself located about an hour west of Richmond in Powhatan, VA. I am getting ready to place an order with Warbonnet. I am gonna check out the Facebook page, maybe I can catch up with some of you guys and hang. I am switching from tents or at least gonna give the hammock thing a go. I went on a float trip in April, the last time I was in my tent and it about killed my knees getting in and out of it. I think I'm gonna like the hammocks.

I'm looking at the 7th because I was just going to be in dc for the weekend. I've got to work all day on Friday.
