    Switchback-worlds greatest hammock.

I love my switchback. I feel like it is one of the best kept secrets in the hammock world. There is a special way they cut and sew the ends that creates a pocket for the foot and head. Also the bugnet is so roomy you can sit up in it. Having a bugnet on my face drives me nuts. I use to think that was just the way it had to be. Mostly it is the flat lay of the switchback that I think sets it apart. I can get like that sometimes in a bridge when I get the suspension just right. In the switchback it is every time with out laying in it and testing it out then finding the trees are too close to pull it tight enough.

If you ever get the chance to try one out at a hang, do so.
    Peace Dutch

Must be that G-string hammock of yours is causing monkey butt in this hot weather?
If it moves, you can eat it. No promises you will think it tastes good.

    Thanks Dutch.

I hadn't seen these before, they look really well designed. This could very well be my next hammock - move over Blackbird.

I have a Switchback Light Hiker and it is a very comfy well made hammock. Because its a double layer the end channels have more material in them so when the suspension is in them the material is not as bunched as other hammocks. I think this helps reduce the calf ridge pressure commonly associated with gathered end hammocks. Its almost like a mini spreader bar. I like that you can get in from either side as well.

The bugnet has the same dimensions as the hammock body which is handy for me for a couple of reasons. Not only does this provide more material for more head room but it also allows it to be turned upside down and used that way. If on a hike I want to pull it out for lunch or a quick break I can just set it up upside down quickly and not worry about the bugnet. Also, during camp set up, I like flipping it over to get a feel for the lay before tying off the bugnet.

Yep I love my single layer 1.9 SB classic.
It has one of the flattest lays, no calf pressure, and the widest view of all the hammocks I have tried.

You can also add a simple pole mod to the bug net to really make it roomy inside.

    OutandBack,
Do you think you would lose comfort (in the hang, ignoring temp change) with the DL version?

Dutch - any specific reason you chose that model over the others? The lighthiker is shorter right? Any other differences to the other models? Is that enough questions for you?
