    Attempt to hang(potential newbie)

I need help. I am starting from the beginning. Researching hammocks for me to use and need feed back. My buddy and his family are hangers (exclusive HH) and I am a ground dweller, not complaining. I am curious and want to try it. Have laid in his HHED and found it tight in shoulders.
Here are the vitals for a hammock,

    I am 6', 225-230 lbs
3-4 season camping (kayaking, backpacking, car camping, backyard)
bugs are an issue(except in winter)

going to use amsteel blue whoopee slings so not worried there.

    thanks,

    DeRozea

I don't have any experience with anything but Hennessy's and net hammocks, but my little brother is 6'4" and probably 240 or so and he has a HH Explorer Deluxe that he loves. Oh and welcome to the forums

I'm two inches short and about your weight. I like my double layer Warbonnet Blackbird. It feels roomy and has the built in bugnet.

My backpacking buddy recently got hte CLARK Jungle hammock... the TX-250 I believe it was. he is 6'5 and pushing the 250lb area. the hammock was sweet and he slept very comfortable.

here is the link to it... http://www.junglehammock.com/product/nx-250/

I also got in it for a few minutes and unlike most hammocks, you don't sleep on a diagonal, according to him and CLARK. Mine is on order right now. I opted for the TX-150 as I am shorter 5-10 and only 200lb. http://www.junglehammock.com/product...ungle-hammock/

There are 6 pockets underneath to allow for storage -which also creates an Underquilt type of barrier from the cold wind. Check out the features in the links.

Good luck on your journey. I am sure you will find the right setup.

Can you post a picture of yourself? I've never seen a two-inch human. I'll bet the Warbonnet Blackbird feels roomy indeed!

Sorry, I love typos - back to the topic at hand. When I first started looking into hammocks I was overwhelmed by the choices - information overload. Finally, I just bought a Hennessy Expedition and got off the ground. I do not regret buying a Hennessy, but four years later my taste in hammocks have decidedly changed.

I now prefer longer hammocks with independent bugnets, but there's no way to find out what you like except by trying them out.

Good luck finding your dream hammock!

I am 6' and 255 and love my xlc. Note I started with a WBBB too and loved it almost as much.

Blackbird XLC all the way for us big blokes! Highly recommended. Never once felt cramped in the shoulders. Alternatively, a bridge hammock might be an option for that uber-flat lay.

I am 6 foot, 253 lbs. and use a Blackbird XLC and have no issues with shoulder squeeze. On top of this I am recovering from a broken collarbone and any shoulder pressure is quite excruciating right now. I am actually getting better rest in my hammock than in my "real" bed right now, less need to shift weight for comfort. I say all that to say, I HIGHLY recommend the XLC for anyone who is bigger or has issues with shoulder squeeze or calf ridge.
